How to Use

Check the elevation of a route you draw on the map or load from a GPX file.

What you can do

Route Elevation Checker shows the distance, elevation range, total ascent, and an elevation profile for a route you draw on the map or load from a GPX file. It is handy for scouting cycling, running, walking, and hiking courses.

Two input modes

Switch between Draw route and Load GPX with the tabs at the top of the screen. Pick the one that fits your goal.

Draw route

Choose how points connect

Choose how points are connected with the connection mode. The selected mode applies to the next segment you add, and you can switch it per segment.

Add and edit points

Each click on the map adds a point, and the points connect in order to form a route. Fine-tune it with the actions below.

Load a GPX file

Choose a file with Choose file, or drag and drop one onto the box. Tracks (trk) and routes (rte) are supported. Load a GPX exported from Strava, Garmin, or a map app to check the elevation of a real route right away.

Reading the profile and numbers

Once your route has at least two points, the elevation profile and numbers appear at the bottom. Toggle them with the Open elevation profile button on the lower right. Here is what each number means.

Hover over the profile to highlight the matching spot on the map, and hover over the route on the map to highlight it on the profile, so you can line up where the hills are.
